Senior Identity & Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer (Lead / Designer)

6 month rolling contract

My client is undertaking a complex Microsoft 365 tenant migration and is seeking an experienced Senior Identity & Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer to support the work from the source environment.

The role

You’ll investigate how identity is configured across Microsoft Entra ID, on-premises Active Directory and Okta, then turn your findings into clear designs, actions and migration documentation. You’ll work closely with technical teams and system owners to identify dependencies, resolve source-side issues and help ensure the setting is ready for migration.

Key responsibilities include:

- Investigate and document Entra ID, Active Directory and Okta configuration, including identity synchronisation, provisioning, single sign-on and authentication.
- Analyse directory data and settings, such as user attributes, UPNs, email addresses and aliases, groups, application integrations and access policies.
- Identify identity, access and configuration dependencies for migrating Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and Microsoft 365 Groups.
- Support identity mapping, permissions, email domains, mail flow and source-side preparation and remediation.
- Use PowerShell for discovery, reporting, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Work with the migration vendor to resolve technical questions, clarify responsibilities and confirm source-environment readiness.
- Support migration testing,



cutover and post-migration validation.
- Produce and contribute to technical designs, configuration documentation, implementation plans, migration runbooks and handover material.
- Engage with the right application, infrastructure, security and business stakeholders to investigate issues and move decisions forward.

What you’ll bring:

- Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations, with a strong focus on identity migration.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and Okta in a hybrid enterprise environment.
- Experience with single sign-on, identity synchronisation, provisioning and device authentication.
- Strong PowerShell skills for technical discovery, reporting and configuration work.
- A track record of producing technical designs and documentation yourself, based on investigation of a live environment.
- The judgement to identify who needs to be involved, ask the right questions and coordinate technical findings across teams and vendors.
- The confidence to work independently, get into the technical detail and turn findings into clear implementation actions.

Desirable experience:

- Experience with SailPoint, including application onboarding or working with identity governance teams.
- Familiarity with application integrations and access policies in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting migration runbooks, cutover activities and post-migration support.
