Network & Security Engineer | Contract | Remote Australia

We're partnering with an established Australian organisation seeking an experienced Network & Security Engineer to join its infrastructure and security team on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on supporting, maintaining and enhancing enterprise network and security infrastructure across a complex environment.

You'll work across networking, firewalls, load balancing and security technologies, ensuring the organisation's infrastructure remains secure, resilient and highly available.

The role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

- Support, administer and troubleshoot enterprise network and security infrastructure.
- Configure, maintain and optimise Cisco routing and switching environments.
- Manage and support Check Point firewalls, including security policies, rule changes and troubleshooting.
- Administer and troubleshoot F5 load balancers, ensuring application availability and performance.
- Monitor network performance, identify issues and implement improvements.
- Support network security initiatives, including firewall management, access controls and network segmentation.
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity, routing, firewall and application delivery issues.




- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, changes and ongoing operational improvements.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud and security teams to maintain a secure and reliable environment.
- Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams and operational procedures.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

- Strong commercial experience as a Network Engineer, Network Security Engineer or similar.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching .
- Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Check Point firewalls .
- Practical experience supporting F5 load balancers .
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs and enterprise networking protocols.
- Experience with routing technologies such as BGP and OSPF.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across network connectivity, performance and security.
- Experience working within complex enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Highly Desirable:

- Experience working within financial services or other regulated environments.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
- Check Point certifications such as CCSA or CCSE.
- Experience with network monitoring, automation or scripting.
- Exposure to cloud networking across Azure or AWS.
- Experience working within ITIL-based change and incident management processes.
