ACJ Holdings Pty Ltd t/as Grappa Ristorante e Bar, is an authentic Italian restaurant located at Shop 1, 267–277 Norton Street, Leichhardt, in the heart of Sydney’s Little Italy.

Established in 1999, Grappa has welcomed the local community and diners from across Sydney for more than 25 years, hosting everything from intimate dinners to large family celebrations and events in its spacious, elegant dining room. The kitchen builds an ever-changing menu around fresh, locally sourced seasonal seafood, meat, poultry, fruit and vegetables, together with the finest imported Italian ingredients, to deliver classic Italian flavours and traditional cooking techniques, complemented by a full bar and an extensive list of Australian and Italian wines.

We’re seeking an experienced and enthusiastic section waiter to join our team.

Job tasks and responsibilities include:

· Prepare the dining area before service, ensuring table settings, glassware and cutlery reflect Grappa’s premium Italian dining standards.

· Welcome guests warmly, present menus, explain daily specials such as seafood pastas or meat dishes and make recommendations based on authentic fine-dining Italian offerings.

· Take accurate food and beverage orders, communicating clearly with the kitchen and bar.

· Serve dishes in the correct sequence with attention to presentation— handmade pasta, meat,



seafood and classic Italian desserts.

· Provide confident wine service and suggest pairings with Italian dishes, for example matching vongole pasta with Vermentino or Fiorentina steak with a Chianti.

· Manage wine and beverage stock rotation, assist with ordering and perform inventory checks.

· Open, decant and pour wines correctly, ensuring ideal temperature and varietal-appropriate service.

· Lead or support tasting sessions and staff training on Italian wines, menu knowledge and regional food traditions.

· Check on guests throughout service, responding to requests and ensuring overall satisfaction.

· Clear and reset tables promptly between courses.

· Process payments accurately and follow cash-handling procedures.

· Comply with food-handling, hygiene and RSA requirements.

· Work with the wider team to maintain smooth coordination between the dining floor, bar and kitchen.

· Assist with onboarding and mentoring new staff, particularly in wine service and Italian menu knowledge.

Skills required

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications required:

· Certificate III in Hospitality AND at least 1 year of relevant work experience OR at least 18 months of relevant work experience in Australia OR at least 2 years of relevant work experience

· Excellent customer-service skills.

· Sound organisational and problem-solving abilities.
