Position: Welder (full-time)

Your Role

We are looking for a full-time welder who fabricates and repairs metal products using various welding techniques.

Your job responsibilities include

- Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Setting up components for welding according to specifications.
- Selecting proper fillers, cleaning and preparing metal stock for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.
- Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.
- Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.




- Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
- Conserving resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
- De-burring metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
- Testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
- Adhering to safe working practices in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.

Skills and Qualifications
- At least AQF certificate IV in engineering – fabrication trade or AQF certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or equivalent
- At least 2 years relevant work experience
