We are seeking an experienced WHS Project Officer to provide site-based health and safety support on a construction project based in Ingleburn.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on WHS professional with previous construction or high-risk industry experience who is available for an approximately two-month assignment, commencing early to mid-December.

About the Role

You will play an important role in supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of workplace health, safety and environmental practices across the project.

Working closely with project managers, supervisors, employees, contractors and subcontractors, you will help promote a safe working environment, ensure compliance with WHS requirements and provide practical safety guidance on site.

This is a visible, site-based role suited to someone confident working in an active construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day WHS support across the construction site.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of project WHS Management Plans, procedures and site safety requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, workplace observations and safety audits.
- Identify hazards, assess risks and follow up corrective actions to ensure appropriate close-out.
- Monitor compliance with NSW WHS legislation, SafeWork NSW requirements and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Assist with the preparation, review and monitoring of Protected Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Support permit-to-work processes, including reviewing and issuing permits where authorised.
- Assist with confined space entry and working at heights permit processes.
- Verify contractor licences, competencies, inductions and relevant documentation.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and site consultations.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate WHS documentation, registers and project records.




- Provide practical safety advice and proactively escalate any significant risks or safety concerns.

Essential Qualifications, Licences & Experience To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419 or current equivalent), or a higher recognised WHS qualification.
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card) recognised in NSW.
- Current unrestricted Australian driver licence.
- Successfully completed formal training in work permit issuance and authorisation procedures.
- Demonstrated WHS experience in construction, structural steel, engineering, manufacturing or another relevant high-risk industry.
- Practical experience conducting site inspections, reviewing SWMS and risk assessments, issuing work permits, monitoring high-risk work and maintaining WHS records.
- Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW), Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (NSW), construction Codes of Practice and incident notification requirements.

Desirable Experience The following experience will be highly regarded:
- Experience issuing and managing permits for confined space entry.
- Experience issuing and managing working at heights permits.
- Previous experience working on industrial or major construction projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with site personnel, contractors and management.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to identifying and managing workplace risks.

- Commencement: Early to mid-December
- Employment Type: Short-term contract
- Hourly Rate: $50–$60 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Overtime: Overtime rates apply.
