5-month opportunity for a Flood Engineer delivering development assessments & hydraulic modelling

Your new organisation
An exciting 5-month contract prospect is available for an experienced Civil or Flood Engineer to provide specialist technical advice and assessment across flooding, drainage and urban development. This role will suit an engineer with experience in flood development assessments, hydrologic/hydraulic modelling, statutory referrals and/or land development.
Your new role
Your responsibilities will include:

- Assessing planning, subdivision and building applications involving flood and drainage matters
- Reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models, flood information and technical assumptions
- Providing technical recommendations relating to flooding, drainage, stormwater and land development
- Preparing technical assessments, correspondence and decision recommendations
- Managing multiple statutory referrals within required timeframes
- Liaising with councils, developers, consultants and other key stakeholders
- Supporting complex matters that may progress to VCAT, planning panels or the Building Appeals Board

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered, you will ideally have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
- Experience in flood engineering, drainage, stormwater, floodplain management or land development
- Experience reviewing or preparing hydrologic and hydraulic models
- Knowledge of TUFLOW,



RORB and/or HEC-RAS
- Understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019
- Strong technical assessment and report-writing skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently

Experience within a water authority, local government or engineering consultancy, particularly involving statutory planning, subdivision or development assessments, will be highly regarded.
