KAPL LEGAL is a newly established, technology-driven law firm located at 25 Martin Place in Sydney CBD, with operations scheduled to commence in January 2027.
We aim to build a modern, efficient and commercially focused legal practice, combining experienced legal professionals with innovative technology and AI-assisted workflows.
We are seeking a capable and commercially minded Principal Solicitor to join our team on a full-time basis and take a leading role in establishing and managing the firm’s legal practice.
About the Role
As Principal Solicitor, you will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s legal operations, maintaining skilled standards and supporting the development of a growing legal practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the firm’s authorised Principal Solicitor, subject to applicable NSW regulatory requirements.
- Managing and supervising legal practitioners and support staff.
- Overseeing daily legal operations, matter management and professional compliance.
- Providing legal advice and handling matters within your areas of expertise.
- Establishing productive legal workflows, internal procedures and risk management systems.
- Supporting the firm’s business development and long-term growth.
- Working collaboratively with management to implement technology-driven legal services.
Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- A current Australian practising certificate, with eligibility to practise as a Principal Solicitor in NSW.
- A minimum of 2 years’ post-admission legal experience,
together with the qualifications and experience necessary to obtain or hold the appropriate Principal Practising Certificate.
- Strong organisational, management and supervisory capabilities.
- Sound knowledge of professional obligations, legal practice management and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and a practical, commercially focused approach.
- The ability to work independently and take responsibility for the professional management of a legal practice.
Preferred Practice Areas
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Conveyancing and Property Law
- Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution
- Taxation Law and Tax Disputes
- Commercial and Corporate Law
Candidates are not expected to specialise in all these areas.
