Duty Manager | Monday to Friday Mornings | Murray Mews

Full-Time or Part-Time Job Share | Level 4

Great coffee. Breakfast service. Monday to Friday mornings.

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Duty Manager to take the lead on our Monday to Friday morning trade at Murray Mews.

This is a full-time, Level 4 position, primarily working morning shifts Monday to Friday, and is ideally suited to someone with strong coffee, barista and breakfast service experience.

You’ll lead from the front, working alongside the team and taking responsibility for the smooth running of the venue throughout our breakfast and morning trade.

From opening the doors and making great coffee to coordinating the team, managing service and looking after our customers, you’ll be the person making sure the morning operation runs the way it should.

And importantly, this is predominantly a Monday to Friday morning role, offering something a little different from the usual late-night hospitality management position.

- Monday to Friday, predominantly morning shifts

- Strong coffee and breakfast service skills are essential

- Food Safety Certificate highly regarded

The Role

As our morning Duty Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the venue through its breakfast and morning service.

This is very much a hands-on management role. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable jumping on the coffee machine, helping with service, talking with customers, managing the team and maintaining the pace and presentation of the venue throughout the morning.

You’ll understand that a successful morning venue is built around great coffee, productive breakfast service,

What You’ll Be Doing

- Lead the Monday to Friday morning operation

- Oversee opening procedures and prepare the venue for trade

- Lead and support the front-of-house team throughout breakfast and morning service

- Maintain high standards of coffee quality, consistency and presentation

- Work confidently on the coffee machine, particularly during busy periods

- Coordinate service flow between coffee, food and front of house

- Deliver warm, friendly and professional customer service

- Build relationships with regular customers and the local community

- Manage staff breaks, responsibilities and task allocation

- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and venue presentation

- Handle customer feedback and issues quickly and professionally

- Maintain RSA, WHS and venue compliance requirements

- Complete required cash handling, reporting and handover procedures

- Lead from the front and step in wherever the team needs support

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in someone who understands what makes a great breakfast and morning hospitality venue work.

You know the importance of excellent coffee. You understand the pace and organisation required for breakfast service, and you can keep standards high when things get busy.

Just as importantly, you know how to create the kind of friendly,

consistent experience that turns first-time customers into regulars.

Ideally, you’ll have:

- Strong barista skills and coffee knowledge

- Experience in breakfast, café or morning hospitality

- Confidence producing quality coffee consistently and efficiently

- At least 1 years’ hospitality experience

- Previous supervisory, Duty Manager or team leadership experience

- Confidence leading a team through busy breakfast and coffee periods

- Strong customer service and communication skills

- Excellent organisation and attention to detail

- A calm, positive and proactive approach

- Current RSA

- Approved Manager accreditation preferred, or willingness to obtain it

- Food Safety Certificate highly regarded

- Current driver’s licence favourable

- First Aid Certificate desirable
