Hire and Yard Warehouse Assistant
Dig HQ | Wangara
Dig HQ is a growing mini plant and equipment hire business in Wangara. We hire excavators, loaders, dumpers, compactors, trailers and attachments to homeowners, tradies and civil customers across Perth.
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Yard & Hire Assistant to help keep the branch moving and support our Operations Manager. Ideally, you will be local to Wangara or the surrounding northern suburbs and able to work flexible hours, including Saturdays. This is a genuine opportunity for the right person to build a career in the hire industry and grow into an assistant manager, branch manager or operations role as the business expands.
The role
No two days will be the same. You will help with:
- Preparing, cleaning and checking equipment before and after hire
- On-hire and off-hire paperwork, photos and basic condition checks
- Helping customers at the counter and over the phone
- Loading, unloading and organising machines, attachments and trailers
- Deliveries and collections around Perth when required
- Keeping the yard, workshop areas and equipment presentable and safe
- General stock, yard and hire support duties
- Working flexible hours, including Saturdays as part of the roster
- Working confidently and productively without day-to-day supervision
- Once trained and authorised, opening and securing the warehouse at the start or end of the day when required
About you
You might already work in plant hire, transport, machinery, landscaping,
construction or a trade or just someone with the right passion to form a career. More important than a perfect résumé is that you are switched on, take pride in your work and have the drive to get ahead.
You will ideally have:
- Need a current licence — MR or HR class licence is a real advantage, but we can help the right person work towards one if required.
- Machinery, mechanical or plant knowledge is a strong advantage
- Confidence around machinery, trailers and basic hand tools
- Valuable customer manner and clear communication
- A practical, positive can-do attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
- Reliable attendance, attention to detail and pride in keeping things tidy
- The maturity, trustworthiness and initiative to work independently and take responsibility for the yard when required
- Forklift ticket, plant experience, towing experience or hire-industry experience would be an advantage, but are not essential
What we offer
- A varied, hands-on role in a growing local business
- Training across plant hire, customer service, equipment checks and deliveries
- A supportive team and direct exposure to how a hire business operates
- Real progression for someone with ambition and a bit of fire in the belly
- Competitive pay based on experience and capability
This role would suit someone who wants more than a basic yard job — someone who wants to learn the business, take responsibility and help build Dig HQ into a leading local hire company.
Dig HQ is an equal-opportunity employer. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
