Experienced Roster Officer – NDIS, SIL & Community Care

Casual or Part-Time | ShiftCare Experience Essential | Direct Client Care May Be Required

About the Position

We are seeking a highly experienced, organised and reliable Roster Officer to join our disability and community care team on a casual or part time basis.

This is NOT an entry-level position.

The successful applicant must have proven, hands-on experience in NDIS, Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Care rostering, together with extensive practical knowledge of ShiftCare.

We require someone who can work independently, manage complex and changing rosters, solve staffing challenges quickly and confidently use ShiftCare without extensive training.

This is a dual-responsibility position. While rostering will be your primary role, you must also be willing and able to provide direct participant support when required, including working with children and adults with disabilities.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, accountable and genuinely understands the demands of disability service delivery.

Key Responsibilities – Rostering

- Independently develop, manage and maintain NDIS, SIL and Community Care rosters.

- Coordinate complex SIL staffing arrangements, including 24/7 support, sleepovers, active overnight shifts and weekend coverage.

- Confidently use ShiftCare for scheduling, roster management, staff allocation and maintaining accurate records.

- Manage last-minute staff cancellations, unplanned absences, shift changes and urgent staffing requirements.

- Match appropriately skilled and qualified support workers to participants based on individual needs.

- Maintain adequate staffing levels and continuity of participant care.

- Communicate clearly and professionally with support workers, participants, families and management.

- Maintain accurate rostering information and ensure compliance with relevant organisational and NDIS requirements.

- Work efficiently under pressure and resolve rostering issues with minimal supervision.

Direct Participant Support – Mandatory Flexibility

The successful applicant must be prepared to undertake direct support shifts when operationally required.

Responsibilities may include:

- Providing person-centred disability support to children and adults.

- Supporting participants in SIL accommodation, their homes and community settings.

- Assisting with daily living activities, personal care and community participation, as required by individual support plans.

- Providing shift coverage during staff shortages or unexpected absences.

- Following participant care plans, behaviour support plans and organisational procedures.

- Maintaining professional boundaries, participant dignity, privacy and safeguarding standards.

You must be comfortable undertaking both administrative rostering duties and hands-on disability support.

Mandatory Experience and Requirements

Applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

Rostering Experience

- Demonstrated experience rostering within the NDIS, SIL and Community Care sectors.

- Advanced, hands-on experience using ShiftCare – ESSENTIAL.

- Proven ability to independently manage complex rosters.

- Sound understanding of SIL staffing requirements and disability support operations.

- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

Mandatory Screening, Qualifications and Documentation

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card), appropriate for the role.

- Completed mandatory NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You, and any other required NDIS training modules.

- Current First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.

- Current unrestricted driver's licence.

- Access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle with current registration and appropriate insurance.

- Ability and willingness to provide direct support to children and adults with disabilities.

- Ability to travel to participant locations when required.

- Flexibility to assist with shifts and changing operational requirements.

Applicants who do not have demonstrated NDIS/SIL rostering experience and practical ShiftCare experience will not be considered.

What We Are Looking For

We need someone who:

- Can hit the ground running.

- Takes ownership of their responsibilities.

- Is reliable, flexible and solutions-focused.

- Remains calm and effective under pressure.

- Can manage competing priorities and urgent staffing changes.

- Understands the importance of participant safety and continuity of care.

- Is confident communicating with staff, participants and families.

- Is willing to assist with direct participant care rather than working exclusively in an office-based role.

- Demonstrates initiative, professionalism and accountability.
