This is not just another chef job.

We are looking for a Chef / Catering Officer to join the crew aboard STS Leeuwin II, Western Australia’s sail training ship.

You will prepare meals, help plan menus, manage provisions and keep the galley clean, safe and organised.

Just as importantly, you will be part of a team working directly with young people, volunteers and trainees.

Leeuwin is a youth development organisation. The ship is the platform, but developing people is the purpose.

We are looking for someone who is practical, positive, organised and enjoys being part of a team.

What you’ll be responsible for

- Preparing nutritious and enjoyable meals

- Planning menus and provisions

- Managing stock efficiently and reducing waste

- Catering for dietary requirements and allergies

- Maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards

- Keeping the galley clean, organised and ready for each voyage

- Working positively with crew, volunteers and trainees

What we’re looking for

- Experience working as a cook or in commercial catering

- Good food safety and hygiene practices

- Confidence catering for groups

- Valuable organisation and time management

- A practical and adaptable attitude

- Strong people skills





- A genuine interest in working around young people and volunteers

A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is highly desirable, however practical experience and a strong track record in commercial kitchens will also be considered.

A Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) is mandatory for this position. For the right candidate, Leeuwin may consider covering the cost of completing this course.

Experience in marine catering, camps, schools, outdoor education, remote catering or youth environments would be highly regarded.
