About the Role

We are seeking experienced Insulators (Asbestos) to join our team at Ampol's Lytton Refinery. This permanent, site-based role is responsible for the installation, maintenance and removal of insulation systems, cladding and asbestos-containing materials across refinery assets. Working in a safety-critical environment,



you will support ongoing maintenance activities while ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities:

- Install, repair and remove thermal insulation systems on piping, vessels and plant equipment
- Perform asbestos removal activities in accordance with statutory requirements and approved work methods
- Install and maintain sheet metal cladding, lagging and insulation systems
- Carry out Foamglas installation and repairs where required
- Inspect insulation systems and identify defects, deterioration or maintenance requirements
- Prepare work areas and assist with permit-to-work and isolation processes
- Complete all required asbestos handling, removal and disposal documentation
- Work safely in confined spaces and at heights in line with site requirements
- Participate in pre-starts, toolbox meetings and safety initiatives
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site safety, quality and environmental standards

Requirements & Experience Needed





- Trade qualification in Surface Preparation & Coating Application or Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication – Surface Preparation & Finishing) or equivalent.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in industrial blasting and painting
- Experience in oil & gas, refinery, or heavy industrial environments
- Knowledge of coating systems, surface prep standards, and corrosion control
- Fireproofing experience (desirable)
- Experience working in a Major Hazard Facility (highly regarded)
- Current Confined Space and Working at Heights (or willing to obtain)
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Ability to work both in a team and autonomously
- Full Australian working rights
