About the role

SushiMate Deception Bay is seeking a talented and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. Based in Deception Bay, QLD, this role is central to delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. As a Cook, you will play a vital part in maintaining the high standards of food preparation, quality and presentation that define our restaurant. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic hospitality environment where your skills and creativity directly contribute to our business reputation.

Key responsibilities
​

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
​

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstation, equipment and storage areas.
​

Follow food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure all foods meet health and safety regulations.
​

Assist in food preparation, including chopping, portioning and preparing ingredients.
​

Cooperate with other kitchen staff to ensure a timely and accurate order completion.

​Monitor cooking times and temperatures, to adhere to consistent quality in every dish.
​Respond to feedback and adjust cooking methods to meet customer expectations.
​Support the Head Chef in developing new recipes, planning menu items and estimating food preparation elements.
​Maintain inventory control and report stock levels when necessary.
​

Inspect and select fresh ingredients to ensure quality and suitability for cooking.
​What we're looking for
​Proven experience as a Cook or similar interactive role in a hospitality or food service environment.

​Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
​Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and kitchen regulations.
​Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced process whilst maintaining high quality standards.
​

Strong organizational and time management skills.
​





The ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team.

​Attention to detail and commitment to consistency in food presentation.
​

Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy boxes safely.
​

A passion for food and commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
​

Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred.
