Forklift Driver – Job Description

Role Overview

The Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, locate, stack, load, and unload goods within the warehouse or site. This role involves handling plasterboard and drywall metal products, including splitting and managing packs of plasterboard.

The position ensures all stock is handled safely, accurately, and in full compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets
- Move goods to designated storage areas
- Handle plasterboard, drywall metal, and associated building materials
- Split and manage packs of plasterboard safely and accurately
- Stack building products and store materials properly to prevent damage
- Assist with picking, packing, and dispatch as required
- Conduct daily pre-start forklift safety checks
- Report any mechanical faults, damages, or safety concerns immediately




- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of warehouse and yard areas
- Follow all WHS (Work Health & Safety) procedures at all times

Skills & Requirements

- Valid Forklift Licence (LF required; LO highly regarded if applicable)
- Highly prefer with HR trucks licences.
- Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, construction, or building materials setting
- Experience handling plasterboard or similar building products (preferred)
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Ability to manually handle heavy and oversized building materials
- Basic understanding of inventory systems (advantageous)
- Good communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Comfortable working in warehouse and outdoor yard environments
- Capable of handling large, bulky plasterboard sheets safely

Pay: $30.00 – $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
