About the Role

T&J; Concepts Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced, reliable and hardworking Full-Time Kitchenhand to join our commercial food operations in Broome, Western Australia.

The successful applicant will support the kitchen team with daily food preparation, cleaning, sanitation, food handling and general back-of-house kitchen operations.

This position plays an important role in maintaining efficient kitchen operations, consistent food quality and high standards of workplace hygiene and food safety.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Kitchen Cleaning and Sanitation

- Wash, clean, sanitise and properly store kitchen utensils, commercial cookware, dishes, chopping boards and food preparation equipment.

- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and perform manual dishwashing when required.

- Clean and maintain kitchen workbenches, food preparation areas, floors, sinks and kitchen equipment.- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.

2. Basic Food Preparation

- Wash, peel, cut, slice and portion vegetables and other food ingredients.

- Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and ingredient preparation.

- Measure and mix basic ingredients according to kitchen requirements.

- Prepare, organise and arrange ingredients for daily kitchen production.

3. Food Safety and Hygiene

- Follow established food safety procedures and hygiene standards.

- Maintain clean and sanitised food preparation areas.

- Follow proper food storage, temperature control and cross-contamination prevention procedures.

- Comply with applicable food safety requirements and workplace hygiene standards.

4. Stock Handling and Storage

- Receive, unpack and inspect incoming food deliveries and supplies.





- Store food products in appropriate refrigerators, freezers and dry storage areas.

- Follow First-In, First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation procedures.

- Maintain organised kitchen storage and preparation supplies.

5. Waste Management and General Kitchen Support

- Collect, sort and dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables.

- Maintain clean waste disposal areas to minimise hygiene and pest risks.

- Ensure kitchen stations have sufficient clean utensils, containers and preparation supplies.

- Assist with general back-of-house kitchen duties to maintain efficient daily operations.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Work Experience

- At least one year of relevant full-time work experience, or equivalent part-time experience, in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment.

- Practical experience in food preparation, kitchen cleaning, sanitation and food handling.

Qualifications

- A relevant hospitality or kitchen operations qualification is desirable.

- Equivalent practical experience and demonstrated competency will also be considered.

Technical Knowledge

- Understanding of food hygiene, safe food handling, temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.

- Familiarity with commercial kitchen cleaning procedures and equipment.

- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasks.

- Ability to safely lift and handle kitchen supplies weighing up to 15–20 kg.

- Ability to work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen environment.

Availability and Work Ethic

- Available to work a full-time roster of 38 hours per week.





- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, according to operational requirements.

- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

- Applicants must have current legal work rights in Australia.

- Applicants must be legally entitled to work a minimum of 38 hours per week for this position.

- Applicants must be able to work on-site in Broome, Western Australia.

- Applicants currently residing outside Broome must be willing and able to relocate to Broome.

- Applicants must demonstrate relevant commercial kitchen or hospitality experience.

Salary and Employment Conditions

The position offers a guaranteed annual base salary of AUD $72,000 plus superannuation for 38 hours per week.

The guaranteed base salary is exclusive of superannuation and does not rely on additional overtime payments to meet the advertised annual salary.

Applicable employment conditions, including overtime, weekend and public holiday entitlements, will be provided in accordance with the applicable award and employment agreement.
