We seek an applicant who:

- Has experience in putting high-quality food on the plate and maintains high standards
- Has experience in planning menus, preparation, cooking, butchering, or pastry cooking as required.
- Has no issue with following direction.
- Is an excellent multi-tasker with initiative to take the lead in improving kitchen efficiency
- Possesses a demonstrable passion for food.




- Has excellent inter-personal skills, maintaining a calm demeanour in high-pressure situations and uses these traits to perform well in a team.
- Is open to having input into seasonal menu design and on-going dish development.
- Seeks to further their skillset and food knowledge by showcasing local produce.
- Has leadership qualities with excellent time and management skills

The role on offer is a permanent long-term position, and will sit within an established team, with long-term goals and new opportunities on the horizon.

Your tasks and duties as a Cook in the kitchen will include:

- Food preparation and monitoring quality of dishes for both a la carte and function service
- Demonstration of cooking techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
- Food service, across all sections in the kitchen, including discussing food preparation issues with the manager, dietician, and kitchen staff
- Maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene, and strictly implementing our OH&S; policies
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
- Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes.
- To follow the workplace policies and procedures as directed.
- Implement OH&S; policies rigorously
- To perform all duties consistent with the Vision, Mission, Values and policies of Bentwood Fitzroy and Statutory requirements.

You must hold AQF Diploma of Hospitality, AQF Certificate IV and AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and he/she should have at least 1 years’ relevant work experience as a Chef in reputed restaurants/cafes in Australia.
