Located in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, Montessori East is an established Montessori school providing education for children aged 0 to 12. With 133 students, an engaged parent community and an experienced team of educators, the school has built strong foundations grounded in authentic Montessori education.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educational leader to build on the school's strengths, lead a committed team of educators and help shape the next chapter of Montessori East.

The Opportunity

As Principal, you will provide educational, strategic and operational leadership, working closely with the Board to support the continued success and development of Montessori East.

This is a role that combines visible educational leadership with strategic thinking, people leadership and operational responsibility. As a smaller school community, Montessori East offers the opportunity for a Principal who enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day life of the school, balancing strategic leadership with a practical, hands-on approach.

Key priorities include:

- Maintaining high-quality, authentic Montessori education and strong student outcomes.

- Strengthening the Early Years pathway and supporting sustainable enrolment growth.

- Leading, developing and supporting an experienced team of educators.

- Building strong relationships with families and the wider school community.

- Supporting student wellbeing, inclusion and diverse learning needs.

- Overseeing school operations, financial sustainability and regulatory compliance.





- Working with the Board on strategic planning and potential future development opportunities.

About You

We are seeking an experienced and approachable educational leader who brings the confidence, judgement and capability to lead a school community.

You will demonstrate:

- Successful experience in educational or school leadership.

- Deep Montessori expertise or strong alignment with Montessori philosophy and child-centred education.

- Strong educational credibility and a commitment to quality teaching and learning.

- Experience in strategic planning, school operations and organisational improvement.

- The ability to develop staff, build accountability and lead change thoughtfully.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage positively with families, staff and the Board.

- Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to balance educational priorities with operational responsibilities.

- A team-oriented, hands-on leadership style and the willingness to be actively involved in both the educational and operational aspects of school life.

Formal Montessori training is highly desirable, or a willingness to undertake appropriate training where required.
