We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Senior Sales Assistant to join our friendly team at IGA Youngtown in Launceston, Tasmania.

This permanent part-time role will involve shifts across a wide variety of areas within our supermarket, including assisting with putting stock up, cashier roles, deli shifts, opening/closing the supermarket and supervising staff. The role is 26.5 hours over a four day work week, but we are open to higher hours for the right applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

- Providing exceptional customer service and assisting customers with their shopping needs

- Within the deli - slicing meats, packaging serviced products and preparing and creating instore food items

- Work safely in accordance with all legislation and supermarket policies and procedures

- Assisting with opening / closing the store

- Maintaining store displays and shelves to ensure a neat and organised retail environment

- Handling cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently





- Collaborating with the team to ensure smooth store operations

- Adhering to health, safety and hygiene standards

Skills & Experience:

- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role, preferably in a grocery or supermarket environment

- Expertise in stock management, merchandising, and maintaining high presentation standards

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and colleagues

- Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workplace

- A positive attitude and a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service

- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including a shift every weekend, public holidays and shifts that finish at 7.30pm or start at 7.30am

- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

- Capacity to work well under pressure

- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15kg regularly
