About the Role

A well-established national organisation is looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst to change how its operations teams get their numbers.

Much of the current reporting is built by hand. Your first priority will be automating it in Power BI, so leaders across the business can pull accurate, timely figures themselves. The starting point is manual and repetitive. If you enjoy replacing that with something better, this is the part you’ll find most rewarding.

From there, your focus shifts to forecasting, business cases and partnering with Operations and Property leaders on commercial decisions, including managing labour costs across a large frontline workforce.

You’ll get exposure to the whole business, without carrying responsibility for the entire P&L.;

Duties

- Automate existing manual reporting in Power BI and Excel (including Power Query), building self-serve dashboards for operations teams
- Deliver site P&L;, profitability and labour reporting to support weekly and monthly reporting cycles
- Work with Regional Managers to understand labour costs and keep spend in check
- Own month-end for Operations cost centres, property and overheads with Financial Control, including accruals, variance commentary and support for balance sheet reconciliations and audit
- Own budgeting and forecasting of operating costs and overheads, based on the drivers behind them
- Provide financial oversight of the property portfolio, building business cases for lease renewals and relocations
- Review leases,



RFPs and tenders to identify risks, obligations and financial implications
- Manage overheads, including subscriptions, insurance, and travel and entertainment, and find savings opportunities
- Model the incentive plan under different scenarios and recommend future structures

Skills and Experience

- 5+ years’ experience in commercial finance, FP&A; or a similar analytical role
- A grounding in financial accounting, with a solid understanding of month-end (accruals, prepayments, journals, reconciliations) and lease accounting (AASB 16)
- Hands-on Power BI experience, and the drive to automate manual processes
- Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query
- Forecasting and analysis experience, with an interest in taking it further through business cases and partnering
- Commercial property or labour cost experience will be viewed favourably
- Able to turn analysis into transparent recommendations for audiences from frontline leaders to senior stakeholders
- CA/CPA qualified or equivalent, preferred
