Connected Cardiology
Shepparton
Bring your expertise to a region where it can genuinely change access to care.
We'd love to welcome you to the Goulburn Valley area, supporting patient care alongside a dedicated group of cardiologists and nurse practitioners at our well-established Shepparton Regional Hub, as well as our experienced cardiology nursing, diagnostic and administrative team.
Join us for agreed on-site clinic days, with the opportunity to help shape preventive cardiology or women’s heart health services over time.
Regular visiting arrangements or versatile locum blocks are both welcome. There is no requirement to commit to a clinic every month.
The opportunity
We are looking for a cardiologist who enjoys visits to regional Victoria and wants to make specialist care more accessible for patients living outside Melbourne.
The core of this role is face-to-face consulting at our Shepparton Regional Hub. Your clinic can include a broad patient mix, with scope to develop work aligned with your interests (see below). These visits can sit alongside your metropolitan practice, or might suit a cardiologist undertaking postgraduate study.
We understand the need for support between clinic visits - so you won’t be expected to manage patients’ needs between visits on your own. Continuity of care is supported by our locally based cardiologist, cardiology nursing team and cardiology nurse practitioners, who can assist with follow-up, patient education and coordination of care within their respective roles. You will also work alongside an established network of visiting cardiologists with electrophysiology, imaging and interventional/structural interventional expertise.
There is no inpatient or on-call commitment.
Make an impact in an area that matters to you
Preventative cardiology clinics:
Help patients understand and manage cardiovascular risk before disease progresses or a heart event occurs. There is an opportunity to work with local referrers and our clinical team to strengthen prevention, early identification and long-term risk reduction across the region. Coronary calcium scoring, CT coronary angiography and stress echocardiography are all available locally.
Women’s heart health clinics: Help improve recognition, assessment and care for women whose cardiovascular risk may be underestimated. You would have the opportunity to work alongside Dr Jennifer Coller, advocating for and supporting improved access to women’s heart health care in regional communities. You would contribute to strengthening this local service - supporting women across the Goulburn Valley region and beyond.
Experience or a strong interest in either area is highly desirable. You do not need to have formal subspecialty training in these areas.
General Cardiology: Or just enjoy the variety that comes with general cardiology, with a broad patient mix and patients who greatly value your visits.
Why Connected Cardiology?
We strongly believe a person’s postcode and background should not determine their access to cardiovascular care. Since 2019, Connected Cardiology has worked to remove barriers to accessing specialist care for underserved communities,
including regional and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Our heart health equity mission shapes how we work: through outreach clinics to nearby towns, relationships with local health services, patient education and a commitment to culturally responsive care at local Aboriginal Medical Services. We aim to provide specialist care that is respectful, compassionate and connected to the communities we serve.
At our Shepparton Regional Hub, consultations are supported by cardiac investigations including ECG, Holter/ABP and HeartBug monitoring, transthoracic echocardiography and stress echocardiography.
You’ll have an established referral network, local support and multidisciplinary team around you, so you can focus on clinical care rather than setting up a regional service from scratch.
A role that can grow with you
Whether you’re available for occasional agreed dates or interested in building a regular on-site clinic, we would welcome a conversation. We can discuss your preferred schedule, clinical interests and any additional work you may wish to include. Accommodation can also be arranged if required.
About you
You must hold AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner, and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (including specialist registration in cardiology). You’ll be confident managing common cardiology presentations and committed to clear communication with patients, referrers and colleagues.
Experience or a strong interest in preventive cardiology or women’s heart health is highly desirable.
Interested? Contact the Connected team at ••••@connectedcardiology.com.au for a confidential discussion about available dates and how the role could work for you.
