Cyber Security Engineer – Canberra (Onsite)
We’re seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer for a federal agency to play a critical role in defending a large, globally distributed ICT workplace against evolving cyber threats. This hands‑on role sits within a mature Cyber Operations function and focuses on security monitoring, automation, incident response, and continuous improvement of SOC capabilities.
You’ll work across SIEM platforms, cloud and hybrid environments, and security automation tooling to uplift operational resilience, develop playbooks and workflows, and support threat hunting and response activities.
Key requirements:
3+ years’ experience as a Cyber Security Engineer




Robust experience integrating SIEM platforms with enterprise systems
Proven log ingestion experience across Azure and AWS
Hands‑on experience building and testing security automation playbooks
Solid documentation and communication skills
Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory)

Location: Canberra – full‑time onsite (no WFH)
Clearance: NV1 required prior to commencement
Contract: Initial contract with potential extensions
