The Opportunity Join an exciting research program investigating the structure and molecular mechanisms of the heme biosynthetic machinery.
This Research Fellow position will lead independent research projects using advanced structural biology techniques, including single particle cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM) and cryogenic electron tomography (cryoET), to advance understanding of these key biological processes.
The research will involve a range of experimental approaches, including organelle isolation, sub-mitochondrial particle preparation and native membrane protein isolation, alongside biochemical, enzymatic, biophysical, structural and spectroscopic assays.
Working with a degree of independence and in collaboration with other researchers, the position will contribute to research design, analysis and interpretation of findings, preparation of research publications and support for postgraduate students, as well as participating in broader academic activities.
We are seeking someone with a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or closely related field, with demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and manuscript preparation skills and a track record of refereed research publications.
Experience in the purification and functional characterisation of membrane protein complexes, together with practical experience in single particle cryoEM or cryoET, is also required.
If you are looking to contribute to an exciting area of structural biology research using advanced experimental techniques, we encourage you to apply.
Monash University seeks applicants for this opportunity who are able to demonstrate present valid and current Australian work rights.
