Owen Legal is a CBD-based law firm specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with additional expertise in estate disputes.
As a growing practice, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join at an early stage and play a key role in shaping the firm's development.We are seeking a lawyer with 5+ years' PAE who is confident running their own files from start to finish.
You will join a small, team-oriented team alongside our Principal, Stirling Owen, and a junior lawyer, managing a varied commercial and estates practice with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with the Principal on strategy and the firm's growth.We are open to full-time or part-time arrangements, with the option to work from our CBD office, from home, or a mix of both.
We are happy to discuss hours that suit you, which makes this role well suited to experienced practitioners balancing professional work with family or other commitments.You will run matters across the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts,



including:Debt recovery and enforcementFamily provision claimsProperty disputesKey responsibilities:Independently managing a caseload from initial instructions through to resolutionDeveloping and implementing case strategyDrafting correspondence, pleadings and Court documentsConducting negotiations and attending mediationsAppearing in interlocutory and other hearings as requiredBriefing and working with CounselAdvising and communicating with clients and third partiesLegal researchContributing to the firm's growth, including client relationships and practice developmentAbout you:5+ years' PAE in commercial litigation and/or estate disputesProven ability to run matters autonomously with minimal supervisionStrong drafting, advocacy and negotiation skillsSound judgment and a practical, client-focused approachUnrestricted practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) in Western AustraliaIf you are an experienced litigator looking for quality work, genuine autonomy and flexibility, and the chance to grow with a developing firm, we'd love to hear from you.
