To provide leadership and supervise the work of mechanical staff at Banana Shire Council.GENERAL POSITION INFORMATIONTo provide leadership and supervise the work of mechanical staff at Banana Shire Council.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate and assist Workshop employees tasks and workflows including contractorsUndertake general maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment in the Workshop and in the field in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and Council's preventative maintenance programUndertake general welding and hard facing repairs to ground engaging toolsEnsure high quality maintenance and repair for the Council's plant and fleet vehiclesProvide a high level of technical advice and leadership to Technicians and employees of CouncilEnsure a high level of customer service is displayed by all employee'sSupervise and oversee vehicle COI inspections across the fleetAssist Technicians to diagnose issues with plant and equipmentLiaise with Parts Interpreter regarding the ordering of parts and equipment requiredEnsure workshop personal operate safely in compliance with all aspects of WHS, OHS as outlined under the Legislation for all workshop and fleet operationsConduct and document monthly safety audits of the workshop plant and equipmentConduct performance reviews for the work teamRegularly research changes to mechanical practices, policies and technologyContribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relationsLiaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties including providing and obtaining informationUndertake routine administrative tasks as required by the positionAssist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop recent practices as requiredParticipate in training,
