Sestra People is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator / Manager to join our client.
This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to take on a strategic role within our electrical estimating and project management operations.
You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing estimating projects, and leading a agile team in the construction industry.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the profitability and success of our projects whilst maintaining our reputation for excellence and precision.Key responsibilitiesPrepare detailed and accurate electrical cost estimates for commercial and industrial projectsReview project specifications, drawings and tender documents to determine scope and resource requirementsAnalyse material and labour costs, equipment hire and subcontractor quotations to develop competitive estimatesManage the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, ensuring deadlines are metLiaise with project managers, site supervisors and clients to clarify project requirements and gather necessary informationMonitor estimate accuracy by comparing actual project costs against estimates and identifying variationsMentor and supervise junior estimating staff, providing guidance on estimating methodologies and best practicesMaintain and update estimating databases,



cost schedules and pricing templatesContribute to business development by identifying opportunities to improve estimating processes and pricing strategiesCommunicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding project scope, timeline and financial implicationsWhat we're looking forProven experience as an electrical estimator or quantity surveyor with a minimum of 5+ years in the construction industryStrong knowledge of electrical construction practices, materials, labour requirements and industry standardsProficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly ExcelExcellent numeracy skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracyAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentationStrong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teamsDemonstrated leadership capability with experience managing and developing team membersKnowledge of Australian construction standards, building codes and compliance requirementsProject management experience and familiarity with construction project delivery methodologiesA valid driver's licence and willingness to visit construction sites when requiredRelevant qualifications such as a Certificate III/IV in Estimating or equivalent tertiary qualification in construction, surveying or related field (preferred)
