Are you an experienced Carpenter or Leading Hand ready to take the next step in your career?
Signature Staff is recruiting for an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join an established Townsville builder delivering high-quality custom homes and complex residential projects.
This is a hands-on, site-based leadership role.
You will be responsible for organising the crew, setting out work, allocating daily and weekly tasks, maintaining quality standards and ensuring projects continue to move efficiently.
Around *****% of your time will be focused on leading and organising the site team, with the remaining time spent assisting with materials, planning upcoming works and working closely with management.

Leading and coordinating carpenters, apprentices and site personnelSetting out complex two-storey residential projectsAllocating daily and weekly tasksReading and interpreting plans and construction detailsMonitoring quality, productivity and progressIdentifying site issues and finding practical solutionsPlanning materials and upcoming worksMaintaining a safe, organised and productive siteWorking closely with management to keep projects on track
You will still be hands-on when required, but your key responsibility will be ensuring the crew is organised,



productive and working to a high standard.
What We're Looking For
Trade qualification as a CarpenterExtensive carpentry experience, ideally 5+ yearsStrong experience in high-end or custom residential constructionPrevious Leading Hand or crew leadership experienceAbility to confidently set out complex two-storey buildsStrong framing, roof, floor system and general structural carpentry experienceExcellent plan-reading skillsStrong organisation and forward planningConfidence leading a team and giving explicit directionHigh attention to detail and pride in workmanshipCurrent driver's licence and White Card
Career Progression
This position has been created with a clear pathway into Site Supervision.
The successful candidate will initially take ownership of the crew and day-to-day site operations, with the opportunity to progressively take on greater supervisory responsibility as the business continues to grow.
