ABOUT OUR CLIENT AND THE ROLEOur client is an established investment management business seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their corporate finance team on an initial three-month contract.Working within an experienced finance team, you'll provide hands-on accounting support across the business's corporate entities, assisting with day-to-day financial accounting, month-end reporting and maintaining accurate financial records.This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who can hit the ground running, work autonomously and is comfortable getting involved in both financial and transactional accounting tasks. Based in Melbourne CBD, this is a full-time, office-based position with an immediate start preferred. There may be potential for an extension or longer-term prospect depending on business requirements.RESPONSIBILITIESManage day-to-day financial accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, journals and accrualsPrepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepanciesAssist with month-end close and preparation of management reportingMaintain accurate financial records and supporting documentationSupport accounts payable, invoicing,



payments and other transactional accounting requirementsPrepare working papers and assist with BAS and statutory compliance requirementsReview accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial informationWork closely with senior finance team members to meet reporting deadlinesAssist with ad hoc accounting tasks and process improvements as requiredSKILLS & EXPERIENCEPrevious experience in a Financial Accountant or similar hands-on accounting positionStrong technical accounting skills across general ledger, reconciliations, journals and month-end reportingHands-on experience using Xero is essentialGood working knowledge of ExcelRelevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related disciplineCA or CPA qualified or working towards qualification will be highly regardedStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial recordsComfortable working autonomously while supporting a broader finance teamStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlinesImmediate availability or a short notice period will be highly regarded
