About the chance
Our client is one of Australia's best-known semi-trailer manufacturers, building at their plant in Wendouree, Ballarat. Now in an expansion phase under new international ownership, they're adding 9 permanent Welder Fabricators to their production line - and they're big on growing their own people into leading hand and supervisor roles.
Role responsibilities
- MIG welding steel trailer chassis and assemblies on a production line
- Tacking and fitting up components accurately to drawing
- Reading drawings and weld symbols, measuring and marking out
- Cutting, grinding and finishing steel sections
- Checking your own welds and fixing any defects picked up by QA
- Working safely and keeping pace with production build times
Role requirements
- Solid experience MIG welding steel - MIG is a must
- Clean, consistent fillet welds without undercut or porosity
- Able to read engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Confident with measuring tools and workshop power tools
- Safe work habits,
reliable attendance and happy to work overtime
- The right to work in Australia (visa holders with current work rights welcome)
- Cert III in Engineering - Fabrication trade
What's on offer
- Competitive hourly rate & plenty of overtime
- Day shift 7:00am - 3:30pm, with an afternoon shift option (18% loading)
- Overtime most weeks, including Saturdays - time and a half, then double time
- 1 RDO a month - take it or cash it out
- PPE supplied and help with local accommodation if you're relocating
