About the Role

This is an excellent locum opportunity for a PGY3–PGY4 Resident Medical Officer with paediatric experience who is looking to broaden their clinical exposure in a supportive hospital environment.
You will join the paediatric team for a locum placement covering a rotating roster of day, evening and night shifts, with access to experienced registrars and consultants for clinical guidance.
The position offers exposure to a diverse range of paediatric presentations while contributing to the ongoing care of children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide medical care to paediatric inpatients.
- Assess new admissions and acute paediatric presentations, including Emergency Department referrals.
- Assist with patient management across general paediatrics and other acute care areas.
- Participate in a rotating roster, including evening and night shifts, and on-call responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with registrars, consultants, nursing staff and allied health professionals.
- Complete clinical documentation, patient handovers and discharge planning.
- Recognise clinical deterioration and escalate concerns to senior medical staff.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and coordinated patient care.

About You

- PGY3–PGY4 Resident Medical Officer with relevant paediatric experience.
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Current Working with Children registration/check, as required.
- Current medical indemnity covering public and private patients.
- Available to work the required roster, including night shifts and on-call periods.
- Solid clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive approach to patient care, with the confidence to seek senior support when needed.
