Our Client is a major regional referral and teaching hospital in northern Tasmania, providing acute and specialist healthcare services to communities across the region. The hospital has a broad clinical offering and plays an important role in supporting smaller regional facilities.
You will be joining its Hospitals in the Home (HiTH) North Service, which delivers hospital-level care to eligible patients in their own homes. The service helps people receive appropriate treatment and clinical monitoring in their local community, while reducing the need for admission to a traditional hospital ward.

About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Medical Registrar to join the HiTH North team from 20 November 2026 to 1 January 2027.
Working under the direction of a Medical Specialist, you will provide medical care to patients receiving hospital-level treatment at home. The position involves day-to-day patient management, clinical reviews and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe and effective care.
The remuneration is $1,500 per day worked from Monday to Friday. Weekend on-call duties attract a flat allowance of $140 per day, with hours worked on call paid at $150 per hour. On-call work is typically between 11 am and 3 pm.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide medical assessment, treatment and ongoing management for patients admitted to the Hospital in the Home service.
- Manage public and private patients in accordance with their individual clinical needs.
- Conduct patient reviews when clinically indicated and adjust treatment plans as required.
- Work under the direction and supervision of the Medical Specialist.
- Coordinate care with nursing, allied health and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure clinical decisions and patient management follow relevant policies, pathways and professional standards.
- Apply sound clinical judgement when assessing patient needs and determining appropriate care.




- Provide after-hours medical cover as directed.
- Maintain clear and accurate clinical documentation and handovers.

About You
To be considered, you will need:

- Current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Senior Medical Registrar experience and the clinical capability to manage patients within a Hospital in the Home service.
- Current Advanced Life Support Level 1 certification.
- A current driver's licence.
- Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
- Medical indemnity insurance that specifically covers Hospital in the Home work.
- Strong clinical judgement and the ability to work within your scope of practice.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Confidence managing patient care and providing after-hours support when required.
