Position: Contract MIG Welder
Location: Perth Metro
Start: Immediate
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10 hours per day. Saturday, 6:00am to 1:00pm. No Sundays or public holidays.
Pay Rate: $50.00 per hour flat rate
Job Description
Seeking an experienced MIG Welder for a contract prospect within a heavy fabrication workshop supporting the mining and resources sector.
The role will involve production welding on mining vehicles and heavy equipment, with a strong focus on laying substantial amounts of weld wire while maintaining consistent weld quality.
The successful candidate must be a capable, hands-on welder who can work independently and contribute to workshop production with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:

- MIG welding using both solid wire and flux-core processes
- Welding mild carbon steel up to 20mm thickness
- Completing heavy plate welding on mining vehicles and equipment
- Carrying out production welding involving substantial weld runs
- Reading and interpreting workshop drawings




- Assisting with general fabrication and workshop duties
- Maintaining safe work practices and consistent welding standards

Skills and Experience:

- Demonstrated MIG welding experience using both solid wire and flux-core
- Experience welding mining vehicles, heavy plate or similar heavy fabrication work
- Confident welding mild carbon steel up to 20mm thickness
- Strong fabrication skills and ability to read workshop drawings
- Good understanding of weld quality and production requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- 2nd Class Welder qualification acceptable, provided the required practical experience is demonstrated

Additional Information:

- $50.00 per hour flat rate
- Monday to Friday, 10-hour shifts
- Saturday work from 6:00am to 1:00pm as needed
- Immediate start available
- Visual weld test required prior to commencement
