About IWDA

International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) is an Australian-based organisation, resourcing diverse women’s rights organisations (WROs) primarily in the Asia and the Pacific. We provide support that goes beyond money and contribute to global feminist movements to advance our vision of gender equality for all.

Our Vision: Gender equality for all

Our Purpose: To defend and advance the rights of women, girls and gender diverse people

Our Values: Feminist, Decolonial, Accountable, Collaborative, Transformative

We are committed to building a resilient and relevant feminist and decolonial organisation, and to becoming an explicitly anti-racist organisation. Anchored by lessons from our 40-year history and guided by fiercely held feminist and decolonial values, our Strategic Plan 2025 - 2035 lays out IWDA’s path towards realising our vision of gender equality for all.

Our strategic goals are to shift resources to women’s rights organisations, strengthen feminist movements, advance feminist and decolonial knowledge, and model a different way of being as a feminist organisation.

At IWDA, how we work is as important as what we do. Our 4S Framework guides us to step up and use our power to create change, stand with feminist movements in solidarity, step back when others are better placed to lead, and sit with uncertainty through deep listening and collective learning.

The Opportunity:

At a time when rights and funding are being cut globally, mobilising more and better resources for feminist movements has never been more important. IWDA uses its position in Australia – our relationships with government, institutional donors, philanthropy, supporters and other centres of influence – to help move resources, influence and solidarity to women’s rights organisations across Asia and the Pacific. Institutional funding is a critical part of this work, supporting our partners and strengthening feminist movements through long-term, flexible and diversified resourcing.

As Senior Manager, Resource Mobilisation (Institutional Donors), you will lead IWDA’s institutional funding strategy, steward our funding pipeline and shape where and how we pursue funding opportunities. Bringing together deep technical expertise in institutional funding, strategic donor engagement and compelling proposal development, you will work collaboratively with IWDA’s Partnerships and Research, Advocacy and Movement Strengthening (RAMS) teams to secure funding that advances feminist movements and women's rights.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement IWDA’s institutional funding strategy in collaboration with Partnerships and RAMS teams, with a focus on growing and diversifying funding opportunities for IWDA programs and partners.
- Co-own and steward IWDA’s institutional funding pipeline, identifying strategic opportunities and developing multi-year funding plans, targets and timelines.
- Lead bid strategy and competitive grant processes, including go/no-go decisions, proposal development, coordination and timely submission of high-quality applications.
- Develop compelling funding materials, including concept notes, pitch decks, case studies and proposals that articulate IWDA’s value proposition to institutional donors.
- Establish and strengthen pipeline forecasting, monitoring,

reporting and decision-making processes to support effective funding prioritisation.
- Build and coordinate strategic funder engagement plans, working with leadership and relevant relationship holders to strengthen donor relationships, identify new prospects and support stewardship.
- Lead grant renewal planning, negotiations and funding reviews, ensuring proactive engagement and timely decisions that support sustained and diversified funding.
- Strengthen organisational proposal development practices through quality assurance, peer review, knowledge sharing and maintaining a central library of funding content and resources.

Desired Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing institutional funding strategies, with a strong understanding of bilateral and multilateral donor funding mechanisms and requirements.
- Proven track record leading complex, competitive grant applications and proposals, including bid strategy, proposal writing, coordination and successful funding outcomes.
- Strong technical expertise in institutional funding, including donor intelligence, funding opportunity assessment, pipeline management, forecasting and grant lifecycle processes.
- Highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to develop compelling, persuasive and evidence-informed funding proposals and articulate organisational value propositions.
- Demonstrated experience building and stewarding strategic relationships with institutional donors and coordinating senior stakeholder engagement.
- Experience working collaboratively across diverse teams, bringing together programmatic, technical and organisational expertise to develop strong funding opportunities.

A Little About You

You are a strategic and collaborative resource mobilisation leader who understands that institutional funding is not simply about securing grants – it is about mobilising resources that enable feminist movements to thrive.

You bring the technical expertise and commercial acumen to navigate complex funding environments, alongside the relational skills to build trust, influence decisions and bring people together around shared funding priorities. You are comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands-on bid leadership, and you know how to translate complex programmatic work into compelling funding narratives.

You are thoughtful, organised and proactive, with a robust commitment to collaboration, learning and continuous improvement. You bring a feminist lens to your work and are motivated by the opportunity to strengthen the resources, relationships and collective power behind women's rights organisations and feminist movements.

You will bring

- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to identify, assess and shape institutional funding opportunities that align with organisational priorities and partner needs.
- Deep technical expertise in institutional funding mechanisms, competitive grant processes, proposal development and donor requirements.
- Exceptional written communication skills,

with the ability to develop compelling, persuasive and evidence-informed funding proposals and articulate IWDA's value proposition.
- Highly developed relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to cultivate donor relationships, engage senior stakeholders and build trust across diverse teams.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage complex bids, competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
- A collaborative and feminist approach to resource mobilisation, grounded in a commitment to women's rights, solidarity, equity and strengthening feminist movements.

If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every criterion, we encourage you to apply. We value growth, potential and transferable skills.

What We Can Offer:

- Competitive remuneration: Above-Award salary, superannuation and salary packaging up to $18,200.
- Additional end-of-year leave and enhanced personal/carer’s and parental leave.
- Employee Assistance Program and a focus on wellbeing and psychological safety.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

IWDA uses a mechanism in the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic) called the “Special Measures Exception” which aims to advance substantive equality for marginalised groups. We accept applications from people with a gender identity that is adversely impacted by the patriarchy in terms of employment and leadership opportunities: women, non-binary, trans and gender diverse people.

IWDA uses the term “women” inclusively to refer to both trans and cis women. We welcome people with different skills, perspectives and life experiences, and particularly encourage First Nations women, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women with disabilities, women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in, or have cultural heritage from, one or more of the countries in which IWDA supports partners.

Safety, Safeguarding and Australian Work Rights

IWDA is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our staff and the children and other vulnerable people engaged in our programs. We have strong recruitment and safeguarding processes to support the selection of suitable candidates and maintain a safe and respectful workplace.

All applicants must be legally entitled to live and work in Australia. Any offer of employment will be subject to a National Police Check and endorsement of IWDA’s Safeguarding Code of Conduct.

The successful candidate will be expected to work from IWDA’s physical office in Naarm (Melbourne) at least two days per week, with flexibility supported through our hybrid working approach.

We look forward to hearing from people who share our commitment to gender equality, feminist movements and creating a more equitable and just world.
