Your New Role

As our Senior Project Accountant, you’ll deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial accounting and reporting across our projects and divisions. You’ll own the month-end close, general ledger reconciliations and financial forecasting (P&L;, cash flow and balance sheet), making sure everything is accurate and compliant with our accounting policies and statutory requirements. Working closely with Commercial Managers, development teams and Enterprise Finance, you’ll keep project financial information current to support planning, budgeting and performance monitoring, and ensure the data, commentary and reports going to management and the Board are reliable and on time.

It’s a key role in safeguarding financial integrity and enabling strong commercial decisions across our project portfolio.

There are two (2) Senior Project Accountant roles available, working in a hybrid environment – a mix of working from our Melbourne CBD head office and working from home.

Core Accountabilities

- Responsible for completing month end accounting processes for an assigned portfolio of projects.
- Maintain processes to complete all project financial forecasts including Profit and Loss, Cashflow and Balance Sheet accounts as timetabled.
- Assist with the timely delivery of project reports and associated commentary in conjunction with the Commercial Management team.
- Co-ordinate monthly result reviews with Commercial Managers to ensure commentary and reports are timely, accurate and relevant. Highlight material variances for Commercial Finance team review.




- Complete monthly GL reconciliations for all direct project GL accounts and close out variances in a timely manner.
- Assist with the validation of SRIMS reporting and commentary for project related variances.
- Assist with the collation of project financial data requested by VAGO as part of their audit processes.
- Partner with Senior Analyst, FP&A; and the IT team to identify opportunities to further develop finance system capability and reporting relating to project accounting.
- Develop and maintain process design documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Provide training and support to other finance staff as required.

About You

Desired Skills and Experience

You’re a CPA or CA qualified accountant with a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or commerce, and at least 5 years’

experience in a project management and/or commercial environment. You know your way around construction project accounting, and you’re a whiz with Excel – confident analysing project data and checking that the numbers add up.

You’re a clear communicator and a lateral thinker who enjoys solving problems and weighing up the options before recommending a way forward. People enjoy working with you – you build strong relationships at every level and can explain financial data in a way that makes sense to non-finance colleagues, all while juggling multiple complex priorities.
