McArthur is seeking an Experienced Civil Designer to join Brisbane City Council's Road Design team, contributing to the planning, design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects that keep Brisbane moving.

This opportunity combines meaningful infrastructure work with the flexibility of a 50% work-from-home arrangement following training.

About the Role

Working within the City Projects Office's Road Design team, you'll be responsible for investigating, planning, designing and documenting transport infrastructure projects, ensuring designs are practical, technically sound and delivered to agreed quality, time and budget requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Prepare detailed civil and road infrastructure designs, drawings and technical documentation.

- Contribute to the investigation, planning and design of transport infrastructure projects.

- Utilise 12D, AutoCAD and other relevant CAD systems to produce accurate designs.

- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, legislation and technical guidelines.

- Conduct site inspections, obtain field measurements and assess project requirements.

- Investigate technical challenges and recommend practical, effective design solutions.

- Collaborate with engineers, design managers and project stakeholders to achieve quality outcomes.

- Manage competing priorities to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and quality standards.

About You





We're looking for a technically capable Civil Designer who combines robust design expertise with a practical, solutions-focused approach. You take pride in the quality of your work, enjoy collaborating with others and understand the importance of delivering infrastructure that works in the real world.

To be successful, you'll bring:

- Demonstrated experience in civil infrastructure design, particularly road and transport infrastructure projects.

- Experience using 12D, AutoCAD and/or other CAD design systems.

- Sound understanding of civil engineering design principles, technical standards and documentation requirements.

- Experience designing traffic control devices and investigating technical design issues.

- Ability to manage design deliverables within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality requirements.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing technical reports and design briefs.

- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

- A current open C Class driver's licence.

A Certificate IV in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification will be highly regarded.
