About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Sushi Chef, Cook & Kitchen Hand to join the culinary team at Aung SNT PTY LTD in Beaumaris, VIC. This is a full-time/ Part time/ Casual position that combines the artistry of sushi preparation with essential kitchen support duties. As a Sushi Chef/ Cook/ Kitchen Hand, you will play a crucial role in delivering authentic, high-quality sushi and Japanese cuisine to our valued customers. You will work in a fast-paced hospitality environment where precision, cleanliness and exceptional customer service are paramount. This role is perfect for someone passionate about Japanese culinary traditions who is eager to develop their skills whilst contributing to a dynamic kitchen team.

Full time chef $70,000-$85,000 Including Super ( Depending on Skill level )

Casual From From$33 ( Depending on Skill level )

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and presenting sushi dishes including nigiri, maki rolls, sashimi and other Japanese specialities to the highest standards

- Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards in all food preparation areas

- Managing ingredients, including proper storage, handling and rotation of fresh produce and seafood

- Supporting kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, cooking and plating under the guidance of senior chefs

- Keeping work stations organised, clean and well-stocked throughout service

- Responding to kitchen orders efficiently and working collaboratively with the broader kitchen team

- Ensuring consistency in portion sizes, presentation and quality across all dishes

- Adhering to all food handling regulations and health department requirements

- Contributing to inventory management and reporting on stock levels as needed

- Assisting with general kitchen cleaning and maintenance tasks

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a sushi chef or in a Japanese kitchen environment

- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, ingredients and presentation standards

- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one





- Excellent knife skills and understanding of proper food handling procedures

- Attention to detail with an ability to maintain consistent quality in a high-volume setting

- Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods in a busy kitchen

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst also managing individual tasks

- Strong communication skills and a professional, reliable approach to work

- Experience in a fast-paced hospitality or restaurant environment

- Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays

- A passion for Japanese cuisine and commitment to continuous skill development
