Sands Fridge Lines is seeking an experienced Metropolitan Transport Manager to lead our Perth metropolitan transport operations from our Forrestfield facility.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished transport professional who can build high-performing teams, improve fleet productivity and service delivery, and drive safe, effective and commercially focused operations.

The Role

Reporting into senior management, you will take ownership of the day-to-day performance of our metropolitan transport operation, ensuring freight is delivered safely, efficiently, on time and cost effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

· Lead, coach and develop the metropolitan transport team

· Manage daily scheduling, dispatch, routing and fleet utilisation

· Drive productivity while controlling transport and labour costs

· Ensure vehicles and resources are effectively utilised

· Monitor service performance and ensure delivery commitments are achieved

· Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients through proactive service delivery and performance reviews.

· Set clear standards for safety, compliance and operational performance

· Manage departmental budgets and contribute to commercial decision-making

· Manage employee matters from performance, compliance, absenteeism, annual leave planning, rostering and skill development.

· Coordinate labour requirements to meet changing operational demands

· Improve processes, systems and operational efficiencies

· Investigate and resolve transport issues, incidents and service failures

· Build strong working relationships across transport, warehouse, customer service and other operational teams

Requirements





You will be an experienced transport leader who combines strong operational knowledge with commercial awareness and exceptional people leadership.

Ideally, you will bring:

· 5+ years' experience in a transport management or comparable senior operational leadership role

· Strong experience managing metropolitan transport, distribution or fleet operations

· Proven ability to lead, coach and develop operational teams

· Strong safety and compliance focus

· Sound financial and commercial acumen, including budget management

· Demonstrated ability to improve fleet utilisation, productivity and service performance

· Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

· Technology literate with experience and proficiencies across transport planning and scheduling systems, ERP systems and PowerBI.

· FMCG, food service or temperature-controlled transport experience will be highly regarded
