Key Points
- Leaders in high-security entrance systems for Tier 1 / 2 government + commercial buildings, data centres and other high-value sites.
- Consultative, specification-based sales - $100K-$1M+ project values, Melbourne & Sydney markets focused.
- Inherit millions in qualified project pipeline, with roughly double that in early-stage opportunities.
- Building entry solutions experience NOT required - structured handover and hands-on mentoring from a highly respected industry veteran in place.
- Sydney or Melbourne based, with versatile working and genuine scope to grow with the business.
The company you’ll join
This well-known global business designs and manufactures premium, high-security entrance solutions that control how people move in and out of commercial buildings and high-value sites - e.g. speed gates, revolving doors, security doors and portals, access gates and turnstiles, etc.
They collaborate with architects, security consultants, systems integrators, builders and end users (property executives, security and facility managers) to supply the physical entrances that help form complete access control solutions - securing every entry point of a building. Specification based, project values can range anywhere from $100K to $1M+.
Their client list includes blue-chip corporates, major banks, and government sites - many repeat customers, due to their quality solutions and market-leading after-sales service.
A strong global key account program, with agreed specifications and pricing for some of the world’s largest companies, feeds many local projects. Data centres in particular are booming, with global infrastructure firms now approaching them directly for multi-site work.
Financially stable, globally supported and with a core local team in place, they are very well-positioned for aggressive growth.
The impact you’ll make
An opportunity currently exists for an industry-experienced BDM to take this business to the next level.
Initially, you’ll take over a healthy pipeline of qualified projects from a long-serving BDM who is moving into a technical support role - with a structured handover and mentoring period to get you up to speed.
Once you’re across the product range and existing client base, you’ll build and execute your own sales strategy - mapping the market and prioritising targets with direct input and guidance from the MD.
You’ll build relationships across the full project chain: property directors, security managers and facility managers on the end-user side, plus top-tier architects, security consultants, systems integrators and major builders, with the aim of building awareness, driving new specifications, generating pipeline and closing sales.
Projects range from $100K to $1M+, averaging around $250K, with lead times anywhere from 3 to 24 months. Ongoing maintenance is handed to the after sales team, but you’ll stay close to clients to win the repeat business that grows the territory.
Expect around three days a week in-field across Sydney and Melbourne, where the majority of architects, integrators and corporates are headquartered; with projects coming from across Australia.
You’ll join a small, down-to-earth, collaborative and supportive team of industry experts. Your sales efforts will be backed by global resources,
a dedicated sales administrator and in-house drawing and technical support.
Reporting to the Sydney-based MD, this role has genuine potential to grow into a leadership position, in future, as the team expands.
The experience you’ll bring
To be considered for this role, you’ll bring:
- At least 3 years’ specification-led, project-based, solution sales experience into Tier 1 commercial building markets.
- A background in access control, entrance systems, security integration, vertical transportation (lifts and escalators), BMS / Smart Building Solutions, fit-out or other people-flow related systems is preferred, though not required. Familiarity with access control concepts, or with products combining mechanical and electronic elements, is a plus.
- Previous success managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes is a must - engaging architects, consultants, integrators, builders and end-user decision makers.
- A consultative, trusted-adviser approach: you take the time to understand the client’s requirements and win on value and solution, not on discounts or box-shifting.
- Intangibly, you’re autonomous and commercially sharp - able to set your own strategy and execute it without hand-holding, with solid CRM discipline (SAP C4C advantageous). No security clearance is required.
- Culturally, you’re hardworking, adaptable, and thrive in small, close-knit teams bound by mutual accountability. Previous experience working within the framework of a global matrix would be an advantage, however is not essential.
On offer, a competitive base salary negotiable based on experience and education, plus super, car allowance, commission and ongoing career development opportunities with success. Interviewing now!
