We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Operations Lead to strengthen our People, Culture and Learning function. You will take ownership of daily HR and payroll delivery, develop team capability and turn recurring issues into practical improvements. Your expertise will help leaders make sound decisions and take ownership of their people responsibilities.

Initially, you will help maintain continuity across day-to-day HR and payroll delivery while our Head of People, Culture and Learning is on parental leave, supported by our Chief Human Resource and Leadership Officer. This is a permanent appointment, with an ongoing focus on leading HR operations, developing team capability and improving our systems and processes.

About Maverick Bio

Maverick Bio prepares animal-derived tissues and biomaterials for medical and biotechnology applications, supporting advances in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and health research.

From production and logistics to science, quality and business support, every role contributes. You will help ensure the people behind that work have the HR support they need to succeed.

What you will do

- Provide professional HR advice and manage employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances and investigations, while helping leaders fulfil their responsibilities.
- Manage assigned direct reports: set clear expectations, allocate work and backup coverage,



review sensitive work, provide regular feedback and develop capability.
- Keep recruitment, onboarding, probation, employee changes and offboarding moving, with clear responsibilities and reliable records.
- Be accountable for payroll processing within PCL, including checks, reconciliations, resolving pay issues and hands-on processing cover when required.
- Maintain employment compliance and coordinate agreed safety, workers compensation and return-to-work activities with operational leaders and providers.
- Create, test and improve workflows and processes in Employment Hero HR and Payroll. Use people data and feedback to reduce delays, errors and manual work, and check that improvements work after rollout.

What we are looking for

You are an experienced HR professional who combines sound judgement with an approachable, practical style. You can work independently, build trust with employees and leaders, and follow through on what you commit to. You will bring a completed degree or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, along with:

- Solid applied knowledge of Australian employment requirements, awards or agreements, and experience handling complex employee relations matters.
- Practical payroll processing and review experience, with the ability to provide reliable cover and maintain appropriate controls.
- Experience developing direct reports, managing performance and leading operational HR delivery through realistic priorities and dependable follow-through.
- Evidence of improving an HR process and following through until the change is used and delivering results.
- Sound judgement, discretion and an approachable communication style that builds trust with employees and leaders.





Experience with both Employment Hero HR and Employment Hero Payroll (formerly KeyPay) is essential. You have personally created, configured and tested HR workflows and payroll processes, alongside processing and checking payroll. You can test normal and exception cases, support rollout and verify results. Manufacturing, multi-site or WHS experience is valuable.

Location

Dubbo is our first preference, and we particularly welcome applicants based in the region or willing to relocate. Brisbane is our second preference, with regular travel to our Dubbo manufacturing site required. A remote arrangement may be considered for an exceptional candidate who can meet agreed requirements for time in Dubbo and site travel. Location and travel arrangements will be discussed during the recruitment process.
