Principal Systems Engineer - Integration & Autonomous Systems

We are currently partnering with a leading organisation delivering complex engineering and technology solutions and are seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to support the integration and delivery of safety-critical systems within a highly technical setting.

This opportunity is suited to engineers who combine strong technical foundations with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset and who understand how engineering process, governance and assurance contribute to successful project outcomes.

About the Role

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in the integration, verification and delivery of complex systems and technologies.
Responsibilities may include:

- Leading systems integration activities across software, hardware, controls and operational technologies
- Defining and managing technical requirements, interfaces and engineering deliverables
- Working closely with vendors, OEMs and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Supporting verification, validation and integration readiness activities
- Resolving complex technical and integration challenges across multiple systems
- Driving engineering governance, traceability and quality outcomes
- Supporting deployment, operational readiness and continuous improvement initiatives
- Providing technical leadership across safety-critical and mission-critical environments

About You

You will ideally come from a highly regulated and technically demanding engineering environment such as:

- Mining Technology

You will bring experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Systems Engineering
- Systems Integration
- Verification & Validation (V&V;)
- Functional Safety
- Requirements Management
- Engineering Assurance
- Technical Governance
- Platform, Vehicle or Equipment Integration
- Safety-Critical Systems

You will also demonstrate:

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- The ability to balance engineering rigour with practical delivery outcomes
- Experience working with internal stakeholders, vendors and external partners
- A collaborative approach with strong communication and leadership skills

Highly Regarded

- Experience with HIL, SIL or simulation-based environments
- Experience with embedded, control or autonomous systems
- Exposure to OEM or vendor-integrated solutions
- Experience within mining, defence, aerospace, automotive or industrial technology sectors
- Familiarity with tools and methodologies such as DOORS, Rhapsody, V-Model, ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or similar engineering frameworks
