At Fresh Clinics, our Senior Financial Accountant is the technical backbone of a finance function that's right in the middle of a real transformation. You aren't just here to keep the books tidy - you're the person who makes our numbers stand up to scrutiny.
We've already done a lot of the hard yards. We moved from cash to accrual accounting, implemented Sage Intacct, and automated AP at scale across 6,000+ invoices a month.
You'll own our month-end close process, balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting, technical accounting and group consolidation across Australia and the US. You'll also play a key role in strengthening financial controls and building efficient, scalable accounting processes as we grow.
Reporting directly to our Financial Controller, you'll combine technical expertise with a hands-on approach to improving how Finance operates. As you grow in the role, there's a pathway to Accounting Manager, with the opportunity to take on direct reports.
What you'll do
- Month-end close: Own and coordinate the monthly close across our Australian and US entities, with a structured close calendar and review process, working with AP, AR, Payroll and the commercial and operations teams.
- Balance sheet: Ensure material balance sheet accounts are reconciled, supported and reviewed each month, including accruals, provisions and prepayments, and clear aged reconciling items.
- Audit: Keep workpapers audit-ready year-round, act as the day-to-day contact for our external auditors and drive remediation of audit findings.
- Statutory reporting and consolidation: Prepare statutory financial statements for our Australian and US entities, and deliver monthly group consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
- Tax: Work with our tax advisers to deliver accurate, timely tax compliance in Australia and the US.
- Technical accounting: Assist the Financial Controller with technical accounting matters and maintain accounting policies,
procedures and controls.
- Payroll accounting: Review payroll reconciliations and payroll-related accounts, and help maintain payroll accounting and compliance controls.
- Continuous improvement: Simplify, standardise and automate close and reporting processes, and get more out of our accounting system and tools.
We'd love you to have
- CA or CPA qualification - a firm requirement.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and external audit exposure.
- Strong technical accounting expertise across AASB and IFRS. US GAAP exposure is highly regarded but not a requirement.
- Experience preparing statutory financial statements and multi-entity consolidations, including intercompany eliminations.
- Solid working knowledge of Australian tax (income tax, GST, FBT and payroll tax)..
- Experience improving processes through automation, standardisation and better use of systems. Sage Intacct experience would be advantageous but not a requirement.
- A builder's mindset - you enjoy creating structure, improving processes and lifting standards in a finance function mid-transformation.
- Strong organisation and clear communication - you can coordinate across teams, explain complex accounting in plain language and hold your ground under auditor scrutiny.
