Assistant Financial Accountant (Level 4)Temporary Contract | Perth CBD | Competitive Hourly RateHays is currently partnering with a well-regarded WA Government organisation seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with robust technical financial accounting experience to contribute to a busy and collaborative environment.Your new roleReporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the department's financial accounting function, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation legislation, and reporting obligations. Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and lodging GST, FBT and BAS returns.
- Providing financial accounting and taxation advice to internal stakeholders.
- Supporting accounts payable and receivable compliance with taxation requirements.
- Performing month-end and year-end reconciliations.
- Assisting with annual financial statements and statutory reporting.
- Supporting financial analysis and reporting activities.
- Contributing to process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience within a financial accounting setting.
- Strong knowledge of taxation compliance, GST and FBT.
- Experience preparing reconciliations and supporting month-end reporting.
- Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial governance requirements.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
