A permanent opportunity is available for a hands-on IT Operations & Security Lead to take ownership of day-to-day technology operations and cybersecurity in a Sydney-based organisation.

The organisation is an established Australian not-for-profit providing employee assistance and workplace wellbeing services. It handles sensitive personal and health information, so reliable systems, strong security and sound privacy practices are central to its work. You'll join a small Technology & Innovation team and work closely with internal application specialists, software developers and external providers. This is a broad role for an experienced IT generalist who enjoys solving problems directly, coordinating specialist support and improving how technology services are delivered.

This role offers broad ownership across IT operations, security and service improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to strengthen a Microsoft-based technology setting and help protect information that matters to the people and organisations it supports.

Key responsibilities

- Own the day-to-day operation of Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Windows endpoints and supporting infrastructure
- Help deliver responsive IT support, including hands-on troubleshooting, escalation support and service improvement
- Monitor service performance and availability, manage incidents and changes, and address recurring issues
- Maintain backup, disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements, including testing
- Operate practical security controls across identity, endpoints, cloud services and business applications




- Monitor and respond to security alerts, vulnerabilities and incidents, coordinating specialist providers when needed
- Support access management, privileged access, authentication, patching and vulnerability remediation
- Coordinate the organisation's ISO 27001 Information Security Management System, including risk assessments, policies, audit evidence and remediation
- Assess security and operational risks relating to technology vendors, cloud services and proposed solutions
- Improve IT procedures, documentation, automation, service metrics and operational reporting

About you

- Strong hands-on experience managing Microsoft cloud and end-user environments
- Experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune and Windows endpoints
- Background in IT operations, infrastructure administration, technical support and service management
- Practical knowledge of identity security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, patching, security monitoring and incident response
- Working knowledge of ISO 27001, information security risk management and audit requirements
- Experience managing technology vendors, service providers and support escalations
- Understanding of cloud and network security, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues
- A relevant IT, cybersecurity or information systems qualification—or equivalent practical experience
- Microsoft, ISO 27001, ITIL or cybersecurity certifications will be well regarded
