The Opportunity

As a Technical Specialist – Work Capacity, you will provide expert technical support and decision-making on work capacity matters, ensuring work capacity assessments, decisions and reviews are accurate, compliant and timely within the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme.

The role balances fair outcomes for injured workers with scheme requirements, supporting sustainable return to work and the correct entitlement to weekly payments, and provides a unique opportunity to lend your legislative expertise to the support, coaching and development of our Claims function.

Responsibilities

- Review medical, vocational and employment evidence to assess a worker’s current work capacity;
- Determine the impact of work capacity outcomes on weekly payment entitlements;
- Identify and obtain the medical, vocational, treatment and employer information needed to support decisions;
- Arrange or review independent assessments, such as independent medical examinations and vocational assessments, where required;
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in evidence and resolve them promptly;
- Provide timely, accurate advice to case managers on work capacity processes and requirements;
