NSW/ACT Sales Manager – Electrical Utilities & Specialist Tooling
Established Territory | Major Electricity Networks | $250k OTE | Vehicle + Uncapped Commission
Package: Circa $250,000 OTE including base, superannuation, vehicle and uncapped commission
The Chance
We're partnering with an established Australian supplier of specialist tooling, equipment and technical solutions to the electricity transmission and distribution industry.
This is an opportunity for an experienced technical sales professional to take ownership of an established NSW/ACT territory, working with some of Australia's largest electricity networks, infrastructure providers and electrical contractors.
The business supplies the specialist equipment used by field crews, electrical contractors and infrastructure teams to build, maintain and upgrade critical power infrastructure.
With an established customer base and a long-serving predecessor who managed the territory for approximately seven years, you'll be stepping into an existing market presence with significant scope to develop recent business.
We're looking for someone who understands the electrical industry, enjoys getting out in front of customers and has the commercial drive to grow an established territory.
This is a hands-on sales position, not a people-management role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage and grow an established sales territory covering NSW and the ACT.
- Develop relationships across electricity transmission and distribution networks, including organisations such as Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, Essential Energy and Transgrid.
- Build business with major electrical contractors, infrastructure providers and specialist service organisations.
- Sell and demonstrate technical tooling and equipment used in electrical infrastructure construction, maintenance and operations.
- Work directly with field crews, project managers, engineers, procurement teams and operational decision-makers.
- Identify current projects, customers and opportunities across the utilities and electrical contracting sectors.
- Conduct customer site visits, technical product demonstrations and field-based sales activities.
- Develop account plans, manage opportunities and take ownership of territory revenue growth.
- Build long-term customer relationships through technical understanding, responsiveness and consistent follow-through.
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in speaking with sales professionals who have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Electrical utilities, transmission and distribution networks.
- Specialist electrical tooling, hydraulic crimping and cutting equipment, cable preparation or installation tooling.
- Electrical infrastructure equipment, power distribution products or related technical solutions.
- Technical sales into electricity networks, electrical contractors or infrastructure projects.
- Field-based business development,
territory management or key account management within a relevant industrial or technical market.
You might currently be working as a Territory Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Key Account Manager, Technical Sales Specialist or Job Site Solutions Specialist.
Experience working with electricity networks such as Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, Essential Energy or Transgrid would be particularly valuable.
Equally, we'd welcome conversations with candidates who have strong relationships with major electrical contractors and can demonstrate success selling technical products into infrastructure projects.
What Matters Most
We're not necessarily looking for someone who knows every product from day one.
What matters is your ability to build relationships, understand customer requirements, identify commercial opportunities and convert those opportunities into sales.
You'll ideally bring:
- A proven background in technical, industrial or electrical industry sales.
- Experience developing existing accounts and generating new business.
- Confidence engaging with technical end users and commercial decision-makers.
- A practical understanding of field-based sales and product demonstrations.
- Strong commercial instincts, resilience and personal accountability.
- The ability to manage a substantial territory independently.
- A genuine interest in specialist tooling, equipment and infrastructure.
Existing relationships within the electricity utilities sector would be a significant advantage.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Established territory: Take over an existing NSW/ACT customer base rather than building a market entirely from scratch.
- Specialist market
