This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in a professional automotive collision repair workshop, working alongside experienced tradespeople while learning the skills involved in vehicle preparation, colour matching, spray painting and automotive refinishing.

You'll work towards your AUR32420 Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing the skills needed to become a qualified Automotive Spray Painter.

What You'll Be Doing





As a 1st Year Spray Painting Apprentice, you'll learn the fundamentals of automotive refinishing while working alongside qualified tradespeople.

Your duties will include

- Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning and masking.
- Assisting with applying primers, basecoats and clearcoats.
- Learning how to mix paints and match vehicle colours.
- Assisting with spray painting vehicle panels and components.
- Learning how to use spray guns and specialist refinishing equipment.
- Identifying and correcting minor paint imperfections.
- Polishing and finishing painted surfaces.
- Assisting with removing and refitting vehicle components where required.
- Learning about different paint products, materials and application techniques.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures when handling paints and chemicals.
- Cleaning and maintaining spray painting tools and equipment.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
