Joe Cools Air Conditioning is seeking a motivated and reliable 1st Year Electrical Apprentice to join our team. We specialise in residential and light commercial air conditioning and take pride in guiding apprentices as they develop their skills and build a successful career in the trade.

About the Role

You’ll be working alongside experienced electricians and refrigeration mechanics, installing air conditioning systems in existing homes.

From day one, you’ll be mentored and supported in a team environment where we hire for attitude and train for skill.

Most of our work is carried out in existing houses, which means:

- Working in roof spaces and tight areas

- Running ductwork and installing equipment

- Assisting with system installation, wiring and commissioning

- Dynamic problem solving on site

This Is Not

This role is not wiring new homes or running cable all day. We install ducted air conditioning in existing houses. You’ll do electrical work as part of that, including wiring and connecting the units, wiring control systems and switchboard work for the air conditioning circuits, alongside the rest of the installation: running ducting and refrigerant piping, mounting indoor and outdoor units, and fitting vents.

If you’re expecting to wire new homes or run cable all day, this role will not suit you.

The Reality of Trade Work

This is physical work. It can get quite warm in roof spaces, and the work can get messy and dirty. At times you’ll be working in tight areas,



and you’ll be lifting equipment and using ladders regularly. Some days are hard and physically demanding. That’s the trade, and the people who stick with it come out with skills and a licence that will always be in demand.

What We’re Looking For

Must Have:

- White Card

- Driver’s licence and own transport

- Reliable and hardworking

- Physically fit (roof spaces, lifting, ladder work)

- Positive attitude and willingness to learn

- Honest and responsible

- Strong communication

- Willing to work overtime when required

Preferred (but not essential):

- Completed a pre-apprenticeship
