About The Company

Flight Control is an education web app development company focused on creating digital tools that support teachers and students. We are expanding an existing product with a dedicated mobile application to make its learning and teaching offerings more accessible and convenient. Our goal is to help users interact with the product through experiences designed for mobile devices, complementing the capabilities of the web app.

As we develop this next phase, we value thoughtful engineering, dependable collaboration, and a clear understanding of how technology can support education.

About The Role

Flight Control is seeking a mobile app developer to contribute to the transition of our established education product into a mobile experience. This role may suit someone with entry-level experience through to an experienced developer, provided they bring relevant knowledge of Kotlin, Swift, or both. You will work on building and improving mobile functionality for teachers and students, collaborating with the team to deliver a useful, reliable application.

The role reports to one primary individual, providing a clear point of contact for guidance, priorities, and feedback.

We are interested in seeing examples of previous projects built with Kotlin or Swift. These could include professional work, personal projects, or other relevant examples that demonstrate your approach and capabilities. The precise scope of your contribution will depend on your experience and the needs of the product.

We welcome candidates who are motivated to learn as well as those who can bring substantial mobile development expertise.

Qualifications

Applicants should have experience with Kotlin, Swift, or both, with a level of proficiency appropriate to their background. We welcome candidates across a broad range of experience, including those beginning their mobile development careers. A portfolio, project samples, or other examples of relevant work will help us understand your skills and the kinds of mobile experiences you have created.

Robust communication and a collaborative approach are important for this position. You should be able to discuss your work clearly, ask questions when requirements need clarification, and coordinate effectively with teammates. A strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks are essential. Candidates should also be interested in building mobile products for teachers and students and in contributing constructively to an evolving application.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, development, testing, and improvement of the dedicated mobile application for Flight Control’s education product.

Apply

Kotlin and/or Swift skills to implement mobile features that help teachers and students interact with the app.

Work with the designated point of contact and other team members to understand priorities, discuss implementation options, and provide progress updates. Help identify issues, investigate bugs, and support the delivery of stable, maintainable functionality. Consider the needs of mobile users when implementing features, and communicate potential challenges, dependencies, or opportunities for improvement. Share relevant project examples and technical insights as appropriate, and remain open to feedback throughout development.

Benefits

This role offers the opportunity to help bring an existing education product to mobile users and contribute to tools intended for teachers and students. You can apply your current Kotlin or Swift skills, develop your experience through practical product work, and collaborate with a team through a clear reporting relationship. Candidates at different stages of their mobile development careers are welcome to apply.

Specific compensation, benefits, work arrangements, and other employment details can be discussed during the hiring process.

Equal Opportunity

Flight Control welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. We evaluate candidates based on relevant skills, qualifications, communication, work ethic, and their ability to contribute to the role. We are committed to a respectful and inclusive hiring process and encourage interested applicants to apply, including those whose experience comes from personal, academic, or professional projects.
