Barista / All Rounder Role

As the Cafe Barista at the Coffee Joint on Napier, it is your responsibility to oversee various aspects of the cafe's daily operations in conjunction with Sebastian Pitruzzello (Owner/Director).

Some of these operations include ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining inventory and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Below is a list of some of the key responsibilities associated with the Barista role.

Ø Customer Service: Greet customers, providing, always, amazing standards of customer service and care and showing them to their table or taking orders for ‘take away’ only service; Ensure a positive customer experience; Address customer complaints and concerns.

Ø Ensure smooth and efficient service; Oversee food and beverage preparation and quality before serving orders to customers; Maintain a clean and well-organized cafe setting.

Ø Barista Management: Duties include grinding coffee using a coffee grinder and adjusting the grinder as needed, preparing espresso-based coffee drinks, such as, but not limited to, long black, flat white, caffè latte and cappuccino, etc., preparing other beverages, including tea, hot chocolate and any other drinks; keeping coffee-making equipment clean throughout the day and following a procedure to thoroughly clean the equipment at the end of the day; and, where required and requested training new employees on how to operate equipment and prepare different drinks.





Ø Preparation of the Café and counters before, during and at the end of service.

Ø Replenishing shelves and fridges with items such as baked goods, snacks and bottled drinks.

Ø Maintain knowledge of the complete menu, daily specials, and any other available items.

Ø Present customers with the menu, inform them of daily specials.

Ø Take customer orders and relay this to the kitchen.

Ø Serve customers efficiently ensuring customer service & care.

Ø Prepare and present bills to customers and process payments.

Ø Prepare tables, ensuring they are clean and fully reset for the next customers.

Ø Clear up used dishes and cutlery from tables and wipe them down, ready to reset.

Ø Take dirty plates and cutlery to the kitchen for washing.

Ø During non-busy times, assist with washing glasses, plates, cutlery, utensils, etc.

Ø Perform clean-up duties, including sweeping, mopping, & vacuum floors as well as polishing counters & fixtures.

Ø Prepare all the Café’s takeaway rolls, sandwiches, etc. and arrange them in the display cabinet.

Ø Coordinate both MenuLog, Uber and DoorDash orders as they are received and ensure they are ready to pick up by drivers.

Ø Strictly adhere to food, sanitary and safety standards.

Ø Ensure compliance with all legislation, OH&S;, and food hygiene.

Ø You may be requested to perform other tasks and duties by the Owner/Director as required in line with your skills and competencies.
