About The Role

Matthew Hoyle Financial Markets is seeking a software developer to join its global development team and enhance, maintain, and support the company’s in-house electronic trading system. This role is suited to a C++ developer with strong experience working on Linux and an interest in building efficient, dependable software for demanding environments.

You will collaborate with Traders, Quants, infrastructure personnel, and fellow developers to understand technical needs and deliver effective solutions. The role also involves contributing to architecture decisions, with a focus on low latency, scalability, efficiency, and reliability. You will use your understanding of algorithms, networking, concurrency, and distributed systems to help improve the platform and support its ongoing development.

Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong programming track record in C++ and experience developing on a Linux environment using gcc.

Relevant technical experience includes profiling and optimizing software algorithms, network programming, multithreaded programming, inter-process communication, and distributed architecture systems.

Experience with C, Python, messaging middleware, or specialist low-latency solutions is beneficial. Familiarity with financial markets, including market data feeds,



order execution APIs, or derivatives trading, is also desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will bring a collaborative and approachable working style, strong problem-solving skills, and close attention to detail. You should be self-motivated, creative, committed to producing high-quality code, and able to organize your work to meet delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

- Enhance, maintain, and support the company’s in-house electronic trading platform.
- Work closely with software development colleagues and engage with Traders, Quants, and infrastructure personnel to understand requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Contribute to software design and system architecture decisions, considering latency, scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
- Develop and improve C++ software within a Linux and gcc environment.
- Profile software and optimize algorithms to support performance and efficient resource use.
- Apply knowledge of networking, multithreading, inter-process communication, and distributed systems to platform development and support.
- Deliver well-considered, high-quality code and contribute constructively to team objectives and delivery commitments.
