About the role

Slipway Bar & Restaurant is seeking an experienced Chef to join our small kitchen team in Lucinda, Queensland. This is a full-time position based at our restaurant, where you will take a central role in creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests. As Chef, you will be responsible for leading kitchen operations, maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation, ensuring consistency, & working the grill & pans during service.

This role requires both creative flair and strong operational management skills.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Ensure quality, consistency and presentation standards are maintained
- Manage kitchen operations, including stock control, food ordering, food storage and adherence to health and safety regulations
- Develop and introduce new menu items and seasonal specials.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times
- Liaise with management and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Manage kitchen equipment maintenance and undertake routine cleaning schedules

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a small fast-paced restaurant environment, preferably in a supervisory or head chef capacity
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen safety protocols
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Leadership experience and the ability to motivate and develop kitchen team members
- Creative flair with a passion for developing innovative menus and dishes
- Proficiency in stock management, food costing and kitchen budgeting




- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene legislation applicable to food service
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all departments
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in a busy, warm kitchen environment
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required
